Spend two days at our bench. Leave with a knife you made.

A UNIQUE KNIFE-MAKING EXPERIENCE. LIMITED SEATS AVAILABLE.

Located in Kalispell, Montana

Learn the craft the way we practice it.

This isn't a demonstration you watch from a folding chair. You'll stand at the bench three generations of us have worked, with a bladesmith next to you start to finish, and build a knife with your own hands. No experience required.

Everybody goes home with a knife they made, and we expect to hear it's been used.

What you’ll build and take home.

Learn alongside three generations of the Rucker family as you craft a knife built to be used and built to last.

Build it

Starting with a precision cut blade blank, you’ll choose a profile, you'll grind, shape, and refine your knife using the same equipment and techniques found in our shop. Every knife is built by your own hands with guidance from our experienced instructors.

Make it yours:

Choose from a selection of premium handle materials and finish your knife to fit your style and your hand. Every knife is unique because every maker is unique.

Finish it:

Complete the final assembly, sharpen your edge, and learn the finishing techniques that turn a good knife into a great one. We'll help ensure your knife is ready for years of real use.

Take it home:

More than a knife, an experience you'll remember. You'll leave with your handcrafted Rucker Knife, a custom leather sheath, practical knife care knowledge, and the pride of creating something built to be used and built to last.

Meet the Bladesmiths.

Rucker Knives began more than 30 years ago with Thomas and one simple belief: a knife should earn its place through honest craftsmanship, dependable performance, and a lifetime of use. Today, his son TJ builds on that foundation, while his grandson Sam is already at the bench ensuring the tradition continues.

"I've owned custom knives for years, but building one myself gave me a whole new appreciation for the craft. Every step was explained clearly, and I never felt rushed. Worth every penny."

Brian S., Washington

"This was one of the most enjoyable weekends I've had in a long time. The instructors were patient, the shop was first-class, and I walked away with a knife I'll actually use for years”
